Unpaid Order Recovery Solution for Shopify stores

How to Write an Email Payment Reminder Text

As an e-commerce merchant, you get to know many different types of customers, including those who forget to pay for their orders. It’s human to forget things but it can be a little nerve-racking if you depend on your customer’s on-time payment.

So now the most straightforward thing to do is to remind those customers of their overdue invoices. But how do you do that? What should the payment reminder text (email) say? And why should you do it?

Covered topics in this post

…the faster you can invest it in building your e-commerce business and giving back a greater shopping experience to your customers.

Why should you send payment reminders?

When customers of yours forget to pay their invoice you have two choices. One you just wait and hope they will remember the pending invoice as well as pay for it by themselves or two, you try your best to remember them in a nice and friendly way.

What do you do? Of course, you choose to remind them. I mean you are a man/woman of business you need to take action not wait for it to happen. Right? As we all know time is money and the faster you get your money from your customers the faster you can invest it in building your e-commerce business and giving back a greater shopping experience to your customers.

What else? Pending orders in your shop’s dashboard don’t necessarily mean that your customers simply forgot to pay. Maybe they struggle with making the payment or they are not sure about the product they ordered or have their worries with the shipping they have chosen.

So no matter what the problem is the fact is that your customers need help even after placing their order. That’s why sending an email to not just remind them but even offer them an opportunity to get in touch and help them with their questions and concerns is a great way for you and your customer to benefit from.

What are the benefits of using payment reminders?

When starting to remind your customers to pay their unpaid orders you are quickly taking some great profit out of it. Why is that?

First of all, the faster the money is in your bank account the faster you can use the money to invest to improve your business.

Next, you make your customers and yourself happy by picking up all the customers needing help after ordering something from your store with one little extra line in your payment reminder text.

And last but not least, you save all that time waiting and checking for them to pay their not yet paid order and focus on the things you can do best things much more important for your business.

What should a payment reminder text sound like?

First off, as I mentioned before forgetting things is human so keep that in mind when writing your first payment reminder email text. So don’t sound grumpy or too cold, you will only piss off your customers and that’s the last thing you want to do.

On top of that most of the time, you don’t have a signed contract between you and your customers binding them to pay their order. This means you need to stay cool and try your best to get your customers to pay for their orders. Otherwise, they may completely forget to pay till the order expires or they are so pissed that they all of a sudden won’t pay at all.

Now, we know how to handle our minds let’s see how we handle the email text.

Seeing pending orders in your shop’s dashboard doesn’t necessarily mean that your customers forgot to pay.

Automation of the reminding process

Now all of that sounds really good, doesn’t it? But who has all that time writing/sending emails then checking if paid writing/sending emails again then rechecking if paid and so on…? For a small online business it’s possible to do all of that manually but for merchants with 5-10 orders monthly needing reminders to be sent it needs automation. It’s just too much time needed. And that’s where we got you covered.
